The Catholic church teaches that the deceased should be remembered with permanent memorials that honor the name they were given at Baptism. Memorialization in our cemeteries is carefully regulated so that all monuments reflect our respect for the faith and dignity of our beloved dead. Regulations are provided at the time of purchase of a Right of Interment Certificate (“Deed”) and all local memorial dealers receive current copies of our cemetery regulations. Before committing to a monument or marker, be sure the memorial dealer understands and complies with our memorialization regulations.
Death date, season of the year, and family’s first contact with a monument dealer impact when a memorial can be placed. Prior to the manufacture of any memorial, monument companies must receive written cemetery approval for material, design, size and any inscriptions or artwork. Every memorial must include some recognized Catholic symbol. All memorial work must meet established cemetery standards.
